Decent Films

Post by Mike »

I watched Withnail and I the other day for about the thirty-fifth time. Still my favourite film. Fucking brilliant.

Yeah, its a great film that, I dont really get tired of it. Have you seen the film handmade did after it, 'how to get ahead in advertising'? Not quite as iconic, but still a very good watch.

love the old gangster movies, from the 30s onwards really. Casino and carlito's way are good too.

Goodfellas, The Godfather (actually prefer III to II), Cape Fear, Taxi Driver, Gangs of New York (sorry), more or less anything with Jack Nicholson pre-1980, every Godzilla film ever made except the American one, the crappo Raymond Burr insertions in the Japanese re-releases, and that one where a Japanese kid experiences all previous Godzilla movies in flashback form which somehow empowers him to overcome school bullies - that one was pure wank, though the others are great, particularly All Monsters Attack.

Oh and La Otra Conquista, which is maybe my favourite film of all time. Possibly. And (google if you care because I can't be arsed) still on a funny foreigners tip, Retorno A Aztlan even though I can't understand a blummin' word of it.

Ealing comedies, Charlie Chan, Sherlock Holmes films with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce...
